During the morning of the wedding the friends and family of the groom gather at his house to perform the Macedonian custom of shaving the groom.
The numko and numka (godparents) place a towel around the groom in preparation to perform the shave. Women sing vocals while the godparents lather up the groom's beard and shave it, while family and friends throw money on the towel.
Friends and family feast on food prepared by the groom's family the morning of the wedding. Often music is played by a band, usually a tapan (drum) and either an accordian or clarinet. Guest dance and sing during the morning festivities.
This symbolizes his last shave as a single man as he enters a life with his future bride.
