A Greek pavilion is pulling out of Caravan permanently because of a feud with its Macedonian counterpart.
"We feel we have no other choice because so many in our community have been insulted," John Kakagiannis, chairman of the Thessaloniki pavilion, said yesterday.
Kakagiannis accuses another pavilion, Skopje, of distributing literature offensive to Greek Canadians and of "violating the map" of Greece.
"We have received over 2,000 phone calls from members in the Greek community and Caravan officials won't take any serious action," Kakagiannis said.
Kakagiannis objects to Skopje calling itself the Macedonian pavilion since Macedonia is part of Greece, he said.
A map of Macedonia is being distributed by the pavilion that wipes out half of Greece, Kakagiannis said.
Vera Jankulov, chairperson of the Skopje pavilion, said, "We are just celebrating our culture, our history, our heritage."
